If this ride sounds appealing to you join us this fall when the temps become manageable as we embark on a Name your Poison Saddle Sore 1000.  It will be up to you to ride 500+ miles from Sparks America Campground collect a time/date stamped fuel receipt from your mid-point mileage and return to Sparks America Campground. There will be No group, No leader, No sweep as in many other organized rides. You will determine the direction you wish to travel since there is no predetermined route. Then you can enjoy the road, the ride, and set your own pace. The only requirement is to complete the 1000 miles in under 24 hours.

Completing 1000-Mile Day is once in a lifetime memory when years of riding and boasts of long treks across country get put to the test. A day that signifies your true love of the open road. A day where the land is a fuzzy image in your mirrors and you can leave work behind you as you melt into the horizon and earn your status as an Iron Butt rider. Ride your own route across regions where distances are vast, amenities are few, and the view stretches to the horizon. The ride tests your riding skills, your machine, and your dedication to the sport of motorcycling.

How does it work?

This is not an organized ride. There is no leader, sweeper or group. There is no group size limit as there is no group.

As verified certifiers for this ride, you will NOT need to maintain much of the paperwork the IBA normally requires a rider that is out on their own. All you need to produce at the end of the ride is your motorcycles, our certification form and a signed fuel receipt from the mid-point location. When you return to Sparks America Campground we will witness your odometer reading and certify your ride.

Reminder:

On Completion of your ride the number of miles logged in the 24 hour time period must exceed one thousand miles, make sure your odometer reading exceeds the 1,000 mile minimum requirement*.

*If you do not know how far off your odometer is, we recommend riding 1,035 miles OR checking your Poison with mapping software

After you complete the ride:

Send your one-time $45 fee to the Iron Butt Association along with certification form and mid- point signed, dated, time stamped fuel receipt. Instructions will be provided on the verification form. Once certified you will receive a certificate, pin, and IBA license back plate from the IBA.
